Past Times Dementia-friendly Community

Welcome to our new website. This site will be developed in the months to come but for the moment, please read about the various activities we run for people living with dementia and their families.

We’re based in Rutherglen Stonelaw Church so if you live near us, please get in touch if you would like to come and join us or find out more.

What happens at Past Times?

From 5th August we will meet every Wednesday from 2.30 - 4pm in the church. Over the last five years we had gradually increased our sessions from one per month to three. Now, we are delighted to be able to offer a weekly service. Each one offers something different - you can find out more on the right.

Professional help and advice

At two of our weekly meetings (Musical Memories and Come-and-Try) you will also have access to professional help and advice. A Support Worker from Eastvale at Rutherglen Health Centre will be there. Maybe you, or a loved one, are dealing with memory issues or maybe you / they have already received a diagnosis of dementia.  No matter which, if you have a problem related to dementia, please come along. Or if you would just like some company and the chance to meet others in the same situation, you will be very welcome. Please know that if you have been diagnosed with dementia then you should be accompanied by a friend / family member / carer. Past Times is as much for them as it is for the person with the diagnosis.

Please contact info@past-times.org.uk or call 07808 926067 for more information.

New from Wednesday 5th August, Past Times Patter will be held on the first Wednesday of every month.

We will have tea, coffee and cake, and then divide into two peer support groups. One for the people living with dementia and the other for carers / family members. Peer support groups like this have been shown to offer many benefits that can improve overall wellbeing. Please contact info@past-times.org.uk to find out more.

Past Times Musical Memories is held on the second Wednesday of every month.

We have tea, coffee and cake, and we chat and sing along (and dance if you can!) to music provided by entertainers. Our visitors tell us it gives them something to look forward to every month and we aim to have everyone leave much happier than when they arrive! This event is very popular and so unfortunately, we have a waiting list. Please contact info@past-times.org.uk to find out more or to be added to the list.
IMPORTANT INFO FOR EVERYONE WHO COMES TO MUSICAL MEMORIES. OUR MEETING ON 12TH AUGUST WILL BE HELD IN BURNSIDE BLAIRBETH CHURCH. CONTACT info@past-times.org.uk FOR MORE DETAILS.

On the third Wednesday of every month we run our Come-and-Try Activity Sessions.

As the name suggests, we offer a range of different activities each month. We always start with an optional Health Walk, leaving from the top of Dryburgh Avenue. Just come along at 2pm to register; we are part of Get Walking Lanarkshire. We walk for about 30-40 minutes and then come back to the church for tea, coffee and cake and join in the activities. If you don’t want to walk, just come to the church at 2.30; we meet in the downstairs hall - follow the yellow signs. There will always be a choice of a craft-based activity, board games and a physical exercise activity. They always involve lots of fun and laughter! No waiting list for this session so please feel free to come along and try something new!

Our Drop-in Memory Café is held on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

This session does not have a waiting list. Here is all you need to know:
